Columbia Valley RCMP Report
This past week, January 14 through the 20th, Columbia Valley RCMP officers responded to 51 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.
Theft from national park lodge
On January 17 a theft was reported at the Kootenay Park Lodge on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park. Sometime between December 17 and January 16 someone stole a red Honda snow blower from a shed and attempted to make entry into the building. No access was gained. Efforts are being made to retrieve video surveillance footage.
Church tagged with graffiti
On January 18 the Canadian Martyrs Church on 12th Avenue in Invermere reported someone had tagged the church with graffiti. An officer attended and photographed graffiti on the wall and window of the building. Evidence was also seized from the scene for fingerprinting.
Three injured in Athalmer collision
On January 20, at about 9 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Athalmer Road near the Athalmer bridge in Invermere.
The driver of a Ford Ranger lost control of her pickup and crossed over the centre line colliding with an oncoming Ford Escape. The driver of the Escape and the driver and passenger of the Ranger were transported to Invermere & District Hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
