Water pipes freezing in city

The cold snap is causing troubles for some City of Cranbrook residents, with water pipes freezing.

The city this morning (Feb. 11) issued a social media alert noting the current cold temperatures are causing some water service lines around the city to freeze and recommends those who have had pipes freeze in the past to run cold water.

“If your home has had frozen pipes before, please run your cold-water tap. The size of the stream should be the size of a pencil to help prevent your water lines from freezing. If your lines do freeze, please call a local plumbing company for help,” the city suggests.

Environment Canada forecasts the current cold temperatures, hitting frost bite realms in some areas of the region, to linger into next week.
