Drug trafficker gets four years in jail

A 41-year-old Cranbrook resident was sentenced to four years in jail, after being convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. Douglas Glenn Mahon was sentenced in Cranbrook Supreme Court September 17.

The charges were a result of a search warrant executed, Oct 30, 2009 on a property on Hwy 3/93 in the Mayook area.   A search of the residence located 20 individual baggies of cocaine, ecstasy, cash and other prescription drugs.
Mahon previously served nine months prior to his sentencing which leaves a remaining 30 months to be served. He was also ordered to provide his DNA to the DNA National Data Bank, given a firearms prohibitions and ordered to forfeit nearly $34,000 cash that was seized at his residence at the time of the search.
