UPDATED Sunday, Dec. 19: Please be advised that the planned full closure on Highway 3 at 4.5 kilometers east of Elko (scheduled for Dec 20, 2021) will be cancelled due to the weather. Work will resume in the New Year.

Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting advises there will be a full closure of up to two hours on Highway 3, at 4.5km east of Elko on Monday, Dec. 20, for safety to the motoring public while blasting rock material to be used for repair flood sites in the Elk Valley.

There will be 15-minute closures with a single lane alternating traffic pattern following the main closure until 5 p.m. Access will remain for emergency vehicles.

Schedule is weather dependent.
