Panorama Freestyle athletes attend Canadian Selections
Panorama Freestyle athletes are competing at the Canadian Selections this week at Apex Mountain Resort.
Canadian selections is the first international mogul event to take place on Canadian soil for the season hosting skiers from Australia, USA, Japan and Canada. This event takes the top-ranked skiers in North America and allocates them spots based on the previous year’s placement.
This event is significant for our local athletes because generally this is not an event that club-level skiers get to participate in. This is largely an event for the Canadian National team to allocate domestic world cup spots.
Our club skiers are pushing the level of the sport at a young age and displaying their skills on an international level. Our club was the largest team at this event.
Attending the Canadian Selections are:
Quinn Unger, 15, Kimberley;
Owen Cooper, 14, Kimberley;
Annika Cooper, 16, Kimberley;
Shawn Mason, 17, Windermere;
Oliver Helvoigt, 15, Cranbrook;
Miranda Helvoigt, 14, Cranbrook;
This same crew, along with other members of our competition and club level team will be attending the Timber Tour provincial level events, Canada Cup tour and ending the season off with Junior and Senior Nationals.
