Boil Water Notice issued for Moyie Water System
A precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued for the Moyie Water System, effective immediately.
Water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute.
The Boil Water Notice has been issued due to a significant leak on Campbell (between Moyie and Queens). The ongoing process of isolating and assessing the leak has resulted in pressure loss within the system and therefore, increased the chances that gravels from the surrounding ground could infiltrate the water system.
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) will be doing water sampling tomorrow and Wednesday.
The Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until the approved lab results have been returned, which is expected to be several days.
