Police ask for public’s help in robbery investigation

Cranbrook RCMP is currently seeking the public’s assistance in moving forward with a robbery investigation.

In the early morning hours of May 3, Cranbrook RCMP received a report of a significant person’s offence involving the possession of a weapon and potential violence.  Although investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect, the file was unable to proceed due to the victim advising they did not wish to participate in the court process.

“The ability of the police to effectively do their job relies on the support of the public.  Incidents must be reported to police to allow investigations to commence, and victims and witnesses must be willing to provide statements and testimony in court to support prosecutions and convictions,” said Sgt. Stu Hert of the local detachment.

“Without the support and co-operation of the public, the ability of the police to present evidence to the court and to hold these offenders accountable for their actions is severely limited,” he added.

Should you have any information with regard to this, or any other crimes, we ask that you contact 911 if the incident is in progress, or call the office at 250-489-3471.
