Heavy rain warning for Kootenay Park area
Environment Canada reports heavy rain is expected on Tuesday along eastern regions of the British Columbia Interior.
Total rainfall of 20-40 mm is anticipated with highest amounts near the mountains, particularly east-facing slopes.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement covering Kootenay National Park for the incoming rainfall but the warning does not include the Elk Valley or anywhere else in the region (at this time).
The rain will increase the risk of flooding and debris flow.
“A significant and slow-moving low pressure system developing over central Alberta will spread rain into eastern British Columbia. Light rain will begin Monday before becoming heavier on Tuesday,” Environment Canada stated.
