Members of the Baynes Lake, Elko and Jaffray Fire Departments are currently on scene of a grassfire in the Baynes Lake area.

The fire, which is currently approximately three hectares in size and growing, is located just off Kikomun Road near the intersection of Baynes Lake Dump Road and is visible from the surrounding area.

Currently there are 15 firefighters and eight pieces of apparatus responding.

Residents in the area are asked to stay away to allow crews to do their work, and to watch for additional traffic as the water tenders shuttle water to the site.

Currently, there are no homes or structures at risk.
