12U Bandit All-Stars District 8 champions

The 12U Bandit All-Stars are the Little League B.C. District 8 champions after defeating Trail two straight games in the play down series this past weekend.

The team consists of players from Cranbrook, Invermere and Kimberley.

They will be representing the Kootenays next week at the Little League Provincials in North Vancouver.

Winning a district championship and attending provincials has never been done by a team since the Cranbrook Minor Ball Association has joined Little League.

Coach Ryley Hunter said, “This type of accomplishment will be something that these 12 kids will remember forever. We are very proud of this group of kids. They have worked so hard and dedicated so much of their time.  Our baseball season has been a success and winning the District Championship is the cherry on top.

“We look forward to enjoying our Provincials experience and taking in the competitive atmosphere at the provincial tournament.”

Coach Tyler Hollander added, “I’m so proud of these kids. They rose to the occasion and did not back down against Trail. It’s really unbelievable what these kids did. They put us on the map. They are the first Cranbrook Little League team to win a district championship and go to provincials.”
