Multi-department response to Edgewater structure fire
Members of the Edgewater, Radium, Windermere and Invermere Fire Departments are on the scene of a structure fire in Edgewater this afternoon.
“When we arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed,” said Columbia Valley Rural Fire & Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Joss Advocaat. “I want to acknowledge the support of the public and their diligence in reporting the fire early, along with the tremendous work by all of the responding firefighters who were able to keep the fire contained to the single residence in these tinder-dry conditions.”
Eighteen firefighters responded to the call and crews will remain on scene for much of the afternoon ensuring any hot spots are cooled and extinguished. The three occupants of the home were all able to exit safely and there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
