Near drowning at Wasa Lake
On July 25, shortly after 1 p.m., Kimberley RCMP was called to Wasa Lake for a reported drowning involving a small child.
Investigation revealed that a three-year-old had entered the water and was unresponsive.
“The child was rescued by her father and two bystanders. The two bystanders provided life saving measures which resulted in the resuscitation of the child who was subsequently transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital and then to a larger medical facility,” reported Sgt. Steve Woodcox, Kimberley RCMP Detachment commander.
The child is in stable condition.
Kimberley RCMP would like to recognize and commend the actions of these two individuals which saved the life of this young child.
