Boil Water Advisory as repairs complete
UPDATE: Sunday Sept. 23: The majority of those who have been without water since Friday afternoon have their water service restored.
The only exception right now is River’s Crossing (Shadow Mountain). Water should be back up and available within the next hour. The main is huge and it just takes time to get things back running normally again.
The boil water advisory will be in effect for at least a week. The city will continue to promote this boil water advisory regularly through all the channels available to it.
Water charging on north trunk water line
Repairs to the north water trunk line in Cranbrook have been completed by Public Works crews who worked through the night Friday into Saturday morning (September 23).
Work is underway currently to charge the main, which should bring water back to those residents affected by late Saturday morning.
Due to this repair on the north trunk water line, the City of Cranbrook, and Interior Health Authority (IHA) have issued a Boil Water Advisory (BWA), for all users that were affected by the water interruption for the repair.
These areas include all of Park Royal, Panorama Sub-Division, Industrial Area to Hurry Avenue, Steepleview Drive NW, Wildstone Developments and River’s Crossing (Shadow Mountain).
It is recommended that users drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice. All water used for drinking, washing, and brushing teeth must come to a rolling boil for a minimum of 1 minute.
Once water service is restored, most customers in the city may experience some discolouration in the water, as the charging process will kick up sediment in the water lines.
Please just run your cold water tap until the water runs clear.
The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
