Sparwood Library set to reopen to the public
The wait is finally over for library lovers in Sparwood. After a long closure, the library is set to reopen to the public on Wednesday, March 6.
“To say that the Board is excited is a huge understatement,” said Rose Sharma, Chair of the Sparwood Library Board of Trustees. “I know I speak for all my colleagues on the Board when I offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to the community for their patience and understanding during this difficult time.
“I can’t wait to see all the families, seniors, home-schoolers and book lovers return to this beloved space. This is a great day for Sparwood.”
The library has been closed since November, after the retirement of the library director and staffing shortages.
Since the closure, the board has engaged with a library consultant on a plan to safely and sustainably re-open the library to the public. With that plan now in place, the library will reopen on Wednesday March 6 at 1 p.m.
An Official Opening celebration is set for Tuesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. More details about the Official Opening will be provided as they become available.
During the closure, neighbouring libraries in Fernie and Elkford generously stepped in to welcome Sparwood Library users. The board wishes to thank the staff and boards at both libraries for their help and support.
Residents are asked to monitor sparwoodlibrary.ca and the Sparwood Library Facebook page for the latest news and updates, including the library’s current hours of operation.
