Obituary of Heather Jean Kohut
Heather Jean Kohut
We are deeply saddened to announce that Heather Jean Kohut (Meadows) passed away peacefully at her Wasa home on August 19th, surrounded by our loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Heather is leaving behind her husband Garry of 50 years, and their beloved miniature poodle Shelby; her son Kris and wife Natasha Kohut, and her grandchildren Jaimee (Walker), Kaidan, and Chloe (Dylan); her son Kyle and wife Lisa Kohut, and grandchildren Hailee and Brett; and her daughter Kate and husband Morgan Cooledge, and grandson Isaac.
Heather was raised in High River and Blackie, Alberta by her late parents George and Paula Meadows. She is survived by her brother Ian and wife Suzanne, and their five children and families.
Heather spent her married life building a family farm with her husband, and raising their family east of Nanton, Alberta. Together they grew a family farm for their children and future generations to have a place to work and take pride in. They also raised a strong and loving family who remain very close to this day. She later enjoyed retirement with Garry at Wasa, BC, the place that held the most family memories from years of camping, and fun together. They built a beautiful home with a gorgeous mountain view, and she spent years creating her yard and garden where she has enjoyed growing her vegetables and numerous flowers every summer. Over the years, Heather and Garry took many trips around the world, her favorite being their trip to Italy.
Heather was always very creative, and over the years she enjoyed painting numerous pictures, in which family and friends will enjoy her art for years to come. She spent some time handmaking jewelry, and her latest creative outlet was down in her sewing room making and designing handbags, wallets and men’s shaving bags. She always mastered whatever it was she was doing while investing countless hours into her interests. She will be remembered for her creative talent.
Heather was loved by so many. She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and she took interest and pride in each of her grandchildren. She was close with her brother and always looked forward to their visits. She had several close friends, with whom she regarded and loved as sisters.
A private celebration of life will be held for Heather in the near future.
