Obituary of Sherry Leona Spring
Sherry Leona Spring
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sherry Leona Spring, who left us peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on May 8, 1946 in Vernon B.C., Sherry lived most of her life in Cranbrook B.C., Sherry’s life was a life full of dedication, passion, and love for her family, faith, and her cherished dogs.
As a young woman, Sherry was known for her competitive spirit and athleticism. Sherry had a keen interest in hockey and grew to know a lot about the sport from watching generations of her family excell in the game. She loved most sports and was always up for a challenge. Her strong work ethic carried over into her professional life, where she worked in data entry with Miller and Brown before settling into the family business where she worked for many years at Northstar Motors in a variety of roles. Later, Sherry transitioned to a position as a cashier at Canadian Tire, from which she retired in 2014.
Sherry had a lifelong love for dogs, which was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a dedicated breeder, groomer, trainer, and general dog enthusiast. Her expertise in Schutzhund training of German Shepherds was particularly notable, and she was always willing to share her knowledge and guidance with others, helping many raise and train their dogs. Her passion for animals was matched only by her love for her family, especially her many nieces and nephews. Sherry proudly celebrated their accomplishments and shared their stories with anyone who would listen.
Her faith was also a central part of her life. A devout Catholic, Sherry could often be found at 11:00 AM Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cranbrook, where she was a familiar face, her Bible and rosary close at hand. She was a wealth of knowledge on matters of the faith and was always ready to offer insight and wisdom to those around her, including teaching Catechism for a time at St. Mary’s School.
Sherry is pre-deceased by her beloved parents, Josie and Frank Spring. She is survived by her sister Virginia Spring and her brothers, Frank (Leanna), Danny (Marg), and Derek (Judy) Spring, along with many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom brought her great joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Sherry’s memory.
A Memorial Mass for Sherry will be held on Saturday August 16, 2025 at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Cranbrook. Sherry will be interred in the Westlawn Cemetery.
