The members of the South Country Fire Departments will be doing a training exercise this evening between approximately 6 and 9:30 p.m. that involves running 700 metres of hose and pumping water from a small water source.

This helps them test their equipment and train for circumstances where they may need to run a long line of hose to a water source in the event of fire.

The exercise will take place in the Rock Creek area, and the Regional District of East Kootenay is alerting residents and travellers to be aware that it is a planned exercise in the event they see a number of fire trucks and firefighters in the area, particularly along the frontage road.
