Dynamiters’ Jake Murdoch KIJHL Rookie of the Week
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) has named Jake Murdoch of the Kimberley Dynamiters its first Rookie of the Week for the 2025-26 season.
The Kimberley product made an immediate impact, scoring two goals and adding three assists – all on the power play – for five points in two games. His performance helped the Dynamiters open the new KIJHL season with back-to-back victories.
Against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Murdoch assisted on the 3-3 goal, which the Dynamiters won 4-3.
“Jake competed hard. He went to the net hard for both his goals and had a good opening weekend,” said Dynamiters head coach and general manager Derek Stuart.
“His experience as an affiliate player with the East Kootenay U18 team enabled him to be more comfortable and confident now. He also played with us in the last three games of the Conference Finals last year, so he knows he belongs.”
Stuart added that Murdoch’s strong start was no surprise to the coaching staff or players.
“He’s fitting in well, centering Nolan Kelly and Luke Davies, and they already have some good chemistry,” Stuart said.
