With heavy hearts we announce the passing of George “Malik” Hoffin Rainey on October 11, 2025. George was a hardworking man and a lover of beauty, a master gardener and cultivator of vegetables and flowers alike. He was a stonemason’s son and apprentice, and found much beauty in these Rocky Mountains. George also was a wonderful music maker and played guitar for his own pleasure.

George is survived by his daughters Anita Dowd Hickson of Cranbrook, Piper Rainey, And Jordan Rainey of Cranbrook, granddaughter Sydney Faith Hug of Cranbrook, sister Juliana Burns of Bronte, ON. and brother Bill Rainey of Oakville, ON.

George was predeceased by his parents Robert and Irene Rainey (N. Ireland & Bronte, ON.

A Celebration of Life for George will be held at a later date.
