Obituary of Micheline Laurette Bouchard

Micheline Laurette Bouchard

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Micheline “Momma Bear” Bouchard. She was a devoted mother, cherished aunt, loving grandmother, proud great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many.

Micheline found joy in life’s simple pleasures — music, dancing, bowling, golfing, bocce, and camping. She was spirited and competitive in everything she did, and she loved the outdoors, whether she was boating, sitting by a campfire, or tending to her yard. Her deep affection for animals—especially dogs—was evident to all who knew her.

Her love for old-time music was unmatched. The moment she heard the right tune, she was ready to “shake what her momma gave her.” Micheline also had a remarkable talent for refinishing old wood furniture, bringing out its true beauty and life once again.

For 20 years, Micheline worked at the Kimberley Ski Hill, where she made countless friends and became well known for her vibrant, firecracker personality — a spark that stayed with her throughout her life.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Micheline’s adventurous spirit took her across nearly every province before she settled in Cranbrook, BC in 1975. After living throughout the East Kootenays, she made her way back to Cranbrook in 1990, where she remained.

Micheline will be lovingly remembered by her three children:

Jacqui Bouchard (Brian Newman), Luc Bouchard, and Chantal Tom (Sam Tom);

her six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by her brother Al Parisien (Dolores), sister Carol Parisien, and many nieces and nephews.

Micheline was predeceased by her mother Lucienne Parisien and sister Ginette Klotz.

In keeping with Micheline’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.

If you wish to honor her memory, please consider a donation to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
