Burger Month returns to support CMHA Kootenays
March is such a delicious time of the year in Cranbrook, Kimberley and ?aqam.
Twenty restaurants and cafes are once again teaming up under the banner Cranbrook Burger Month this March to showcase a mouth-wateringly broad range of burgers and burger-like creations, with the intent of raising funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) of the Kootenays.
And Kimberley residents can take part this year, with The Sullivan Pub and Stemwinder taking part.
Each burger sold produces $10 for CMHA Kootenays.
As usual, local chefs are swinging for the fences and presenting intriguing creations available for March only, with beef and chicken scattered through the menus, along with a dog. (See the full line-up of participating restaurants below.)
So many choices!
Consider Ella’s Gimme Mi Dis (Korean Fried chicken breast, spicy mayo, zesty slaw, fresh cucumber on a Brioche bun) – pictured above.
Or the Cherry BBQ Chicken Burger (Charbroiled Chicken breast on a toasted buttery brioche bun with our housemade dark cherry BBQ sauce, onion rings, Swiss cheese, crisp lettuce, and tomatoes) at The Heidout.
Or Fenwick & Baker’s Not Our First Rodeo Burger (In-house made Patty with Cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, topped with onion rings, pickled Jalapeños and drizzled with a Smokey barbecue sauce. Served on a grilled Brioche Bun with Lettuce, tomato and Crispy onions with a Garlic Aioli and our house signature sauce).
Or ABC Country Restaurant’s Sweet Korean BBQ Beef Burger (Juicy six oz beef patty glazed in sweet Korean BBQ sauce, topped with melted cheese, sesame slaw, and house sesame mayo on a toasted brioche bun. Served with fries).
Or a Shawarma Burger at The Modern Olive (Shawarma Marinated Chicken Breast, Feta Cheese Aioli, Sliced Cucumber & Arugula on a Focaccia Bun).
Or Munch Café’s “not quite a burger” dog (A seven-inch local Rick’s Knackwurst topped with seasoned ground beef, housemade burger sauce, cheddar cheese, diced onions, pickles, shredded lettuce and black sesame seeds on a rustic hoagie bun. Served with cheesy dill pickle macaroni salad).
