Smoky conditions from fires in the prairies
The smoke settling into various parts of the East Kootenay this afternoon is coming from wildfires in Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba and may linger for a few days.
There are no new local fires to report at this time.
A reminder if you see smoky conditions, an excellent resource to use to see where it is coming from (or look at the smoke forecast for the coming few hours) is the Fire Smoke website.
As always, the best resource for wildfires or wildfire-related information is the BC Wildfire Service website: www.bcwildfire.ca
To report a new wildfire, you can use the BC Wildfire app or call 1-800-663-5555 or (*5555 from a cell phone).
