It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Leida Santoro with family by her side on June 23, 2026, in Newmarket Ontario Southlake Hospital. Beloved mother, Nonna, Bisnonna, sister, and a zia. Maria Leida was born, the fifth of six children. Leida was born on April 10,1936 in Rapolla Potenza, Italy. She married Francesco Santoro. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her children: daughters Margaret (Santoro) Salvatori and son-in-law Vince Salvatori; and Rosa Santoro and son-in-law Danny Santoro; two grandchildren Paul Santoro and his wife Leanna Alicandri and Carmela Santoro-Taylor and her husband Matthew Taylor and, great-grandchildren: Gabriella Taylor, Marc Santoro, Michael Santoro and Julianna Taylor.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Francesco Santoro, sisters Elsa Rapone, Rosasina Roberti. Maria Leida is survived by her two sisters Dorina Ricciardo Tirico and Maria (Mauro brother in- law) Moccia.

After the passing of her beloved husband in 2011 Maria Leida relocated to the Aurora Ontario to be closer to her family.

We will always treasure the wonderful memories and the happy times we spent together. Mom, Nonna, and Bisnonna we will miss you immensely.

A Funeral Mass for Maria will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home in Thornhill, Ontario on Saturday June 27, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

Maria will be Entombed beside her husband Frank in the Westlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Cranbrook B.C on July 4, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. all are welcome.
