Obituary of Michel Joseph Phelir Plourde

Michel Joseph Phelir Plourde

April 11, 1953 – May 23, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Michel Plourde on May 23, 2026.

Michel was born in Nicolet, Quebec, and was the eldest of five brothers: Michel, Ido, Yvon, Martin (deceased), and Come. He later moved to British Columbia, where he built a long and dedicated career as a planerman at Galloway Mill. Michel began his employment there on November 20, 1978, and remained a valued employee until his retirement on January 1, 2014.

In 2001, Michel met Surin, and together they embarked on many adventures. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time gold mining, fossil hunting, and crafting jewelry. Summer days were often spent fishing, while the fall and winter months found him gathering firewood and enjoying the beauty of nature.

Michel will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his partner, Surin; his son, Steve; his stepdaughter, Holly (Tony); and his cherished step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Alyah. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers, extended family, and many friends whose lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Baynes Lake, British Columbia. Details will be announced at a later date.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
