Obituary of Michael Robert Seaton
Michael Robert Seaton
July 5, 1943 – June 2, 2026
It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Michael Robert Seaton. Mike was born on July 5, 1943, in York, England, and passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 2, 2026, in Cranbrook, British Columbia. Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and the deep respect he earned throughout his life.
Mike was highly regarded by all who had the privilege of working with him, especially during his years as Manager of Overwaitea Foods in Creston. His leadership, warmth, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on coworkers, friends, and the wider community. He was well known for his generosity, always supporting local clubs and organizations through their fundraisers and giving back whenever he could.
Mike had a deep love for the outdoors. When he was not fishing, he was often picking huckleberries and taking in the simple beauty of nature. These quiet pleasures reflected the kind of person he was—grounded, appreciative, and most at peace when surrounded by the natural world and the company of good friends. He also spent many cherished years hunting and fishing with his father, brothers, and nephews, and the stories from those trips will live on in the memories of all who shared them.
In recent years, Mike shared many happy adventures with his partner, Marg, including his first cruise, memorable trips to Mexico with Marg’s family from Kimberley, and visits to the Oregon Coast with her family from Portland. Wherever there was music, Mike and Marg could be found dancing side by side. They also treasured time spent camping and quadding, simply enjoying each other’s company and creating lasting memories together.
He is lovingly remembered by his life partner, Margaret Leroux of Kimberley; his son, Duane Seaton of Cranbrook; his siblings Kevin (Lynn) Seaton of Kimberley; Ginny (Wayne) Blackburn of Prince George; Catherine (Patrick) Schissel Hampson of Ottawa, ON; Debra (Blaine) Clow of Invermere; Doug (Jo-Ann) Seaton of Nakusp; Glenn (Lynn) Seaton of Castlegar; Paul (Sheila) Seaton of Nakusp; many nieces, nephews, cousins and the Leroux family.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Robert Angus (Gus) and Clarice Seaton of Creston; wife Karen Seaton and daughter Marina Seaton of Creston; and brother Ian (Monika) Seaton of Lantzville.
A private celebration of life for immediate family will be held in Kimberley. A celebration of life will also be held in Creston at a later date, where friends and community members will have an opportunity to gather and honour Mike’s life.
Mike will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Creston Valley Hospital.
