Sheldon HUNTER

In Loving Memory of Sheldon “Sheldo” “Buck Hunter” Hunter Mayuknana

October 4, 1987 – June 29, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheldon Hunter, affectionately known as “Sheldo” and “Buck Hunter,” on June 29, 2026, at the age of 38.

Sheldon was born to Allan Hunter and Jackie Gravelle on October 4, 1987. A proud member of the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it First Nation, Sheldon was a man with a unique personality, a sharp sense of style, and a presence that was impossible to forget. He took pride in his appearance and was known for always looking his best. Whether it was a fresh pair of shoes, a carefully chosen outfit, or a clean and organized home, Sheldon appreciated the details and believed everything should be just right.

Sheldon had a deep love for nature and animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and appreciated the beauty of the natural world around him. He was also endlessly curious and loved watching documentaries on a wide variety of subjects, often learning something new and sharing it with those around him.

Those who knew Sheldon best will smile when remembering his attention to cleanliness and order. He took great pride in keeping his shoes spotless and his surroundings neat and tidy. Family members fondly recall that even as a young boy, he liked things arranged a certain way. One favorite memory shared by loved ones was that his food had to be perfectly spaced on his plate, if the foods were touching, he simply would not eat them. It was one of the many quirks that made Sheldon uniquely himself and brought laughter to those around him.

Sheldon is survived by his parents Allan Hunter and Jackie Gravelle, his grandmother Gloria Hunter, his siblings Nigel Warden, Adam Hunter, Shane Jimmy, Chantelle Jimmy, and Adrian Teneese, his nieces and nephews Hunter, AJ, Drake, Abby, Evy, Brandon, Benjamin, Sancira, Katisha, Eva, Carmen and many Aunties, Uncles and cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his grandparents Roy Hunter, Nick Gravelle Jr, Della Gravelle, his brother Brandon Alpine and his step-sister Melissa Teneese, his Uncles Russell Gravelle and Darrell Gravelle.

He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and individuality.

Though his time with us was far too short, Sheldon leaves behind countless memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his distinctive character, his love of learning, his appreciation for nature, his humour, individuality and the care he put into everything that mattered to him.

May he rest peacefully, and may his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
