Between April 2025 and March 2026, you helped to raise over $1.8 million through over 1,150 different donations and community events to improve health care across the East Kootenay.

These funds supported health care improvements across the region, including:

• New ultrasound service in Invermere;
• New portable ultrasounds for the Elkford Health Centre, Sparwood Health Centre, and the Golden & District Hospital;
• New equipment and patient comforts at facilities across the East Kootenay;
• An expanded JoeAnna’s House, plans to build a hospice home in the East Kootenay, and the upcoming EKRH Oncology/Renal expansion.

This summer, we’re excited to announce we have completed two fundraising campaigns that will improve lives for our long term care residents in the region.

In Golden, we have finished fundraising $100,000 towards new, safe, comfortable furniture for residents at Durand Manor. This updated furniture will go a long way into helping Durand Manor feel like a home. Thank you to all of our wonderful community donors, the 2024 Golden Gatsby Gala crowd, and partipants in the Kelowna Hospital Foundation Interior Health Payroll lottery for supporting these upgrades! We are looking forward to having them in Durand Manor helping the long term care home feel like home by Fall 2026.

In Cranbrook, we have finished fundraising the $21,000 needed towards a Tovertafel Projector to bring smiles, brightness, and interactive, resident friendly fun and games to the FW Green Home. We want to give a huge thank you to long term community volunteer Linda Holt for bringing this project to our attention and coordinating so many fundraising efforts towards it over the last six months!

We also want to thank StellerVista, RDEK Electoral Area C, and all of our fabulous community supporters for supporting this great improvement for programming at the Green Home. We are looking forward to having it installed and ready to use by the fall.

Our ongoing priority campaigns are:

To support the expansion of JoeAnna’s House, a home away from home for families with loved ones receiving care at Kelowna General Hospital. Learn more about donating to the campaign here or check in on the expansion progress here.

To support Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society’s plans to build a hospice home for the East Kootenay. Currently they are in the process and working hard to secure land for the project. Learn more about how you can donate here.

To continue to grow our fund in support of the oncology / renal expansion for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. Learn more about the need for more space here.

It’s been a great summer for several of our annual third-party community events around the region.

In Fernie, the annual Feast for a Cause was a sold-out success in support of cardiac equipment at the Elk Valley Hospital. Thank you to Fernie Rotary for organizing this wonderful event. We are looking forward to announcing the final amount raised soon.

In Golden, over 60 riders took on the annual BluMoose Bike Ride in support of the Golden & District Hospital. This was the 8th annual edition of the ride, which has now brought in over $165,000 in support of local health care over the years!

In Kimberley, an amazing turnout of over 350 guests joined us on top of the Kimberley Alpine Resort for Trio on the Mountain in support of building a hospice home in the East Kootenay. Thank you to Kootenay Savings for sponsoring the event, KAR for hosting, Lennan Delaney, Heather Gemmell, Oliver McQuiad and Jack Spring for the great tunes, and to all of our incredible locals for selling out the night in the first ten days of ticket sales!

In Cranbrook, the annual Opa Northstar Golf Tournament in support of Hospice and the East Kootenay Regional Hospital was a great success. Thank you to all of our sponsors, teams, donors, and to organizers Trevor Gordon and Brandon Laurie for this fantastic annual event that has raised over $300,000 in support of health care over the years.
