The Columbia Valley Arts Council (CVARTS) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year!

The month-long September celebration features a whole series of events to mark this important milestone.

A Golden Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition at Pynelogs Cultural Centre begins on Labour Day weekend. The show will feature an opening reception on Saturday, September 4, from 6–9 p.m.

The exhibition will continue through September. It includes archival materials and works by local artists who have volunteered with or made significant contributions to CVARTS at some point over the past 50 years.

A new book celebrating the history of CVARTS, written and researched by local author Tom Symington, will be available for pre-orders at a Book Launch on Tuesday, September 14 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Pynelogs.

Tom will be on hand to present his work. The book contains profiles of the founders and key contributors to the organization along with photographs, illustrations, and recollections of the literary, visual, and performing arts activities that have shaped CVARTS over the past five decades.

The month of festivities will culminate with a 50th Anniversary Gala Party on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 1-4 p.m. at Pynelogs Cultural Centre. Save the date and come for an afternoon of live music, an interactive art project, special guest speakers, food, refreshments, and a wonderful opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with others who love the arts and share a vision for a vibrant local arts community that will continue to grow over the next 50 years.
