Utility working to restore water in Fairmont
Update: Fairmont Community Association reported:
Some Fairmont Hot Springs and Dutch Creek residents are currently without water as Fairmont Hot Springs Utility Ltd. works to correct a watermain failure.
Regional District of East Kootenay Electoral Area F Director Susan Clovechok noted on social media she is aware of the current water outage and has been trying to get the facts.
“Water was restored briefly and is off again. Please note that as this is a privately owned water utility information is not easily accessible; however, I am working to get an official update asap,” she said, while passing along an update from the utility.
“Response crews are actively on-site managing a watermain failure. To guarantee the safety of our field technicians and secure the integrity of the local distribution network, the primary water supply serving your area has been temporarily shut off effective immediately,” the utility stated, outlining the impacted locations as: Riverview Road, Dutch Creek Road, Mountain Top Drive, Columbia River Road, Fairmont Creek Road and Geary Close.
“Current estimate for the restoration of water service is currently unknown. Technicians are performing an assessment to evaluate the full scope of damage before a reliable timeline can be established.
Our operations teams are deploying all necessary resources to resolve this issue with the utmost urgency and safety.
“A subsequent progress update will be transmitted as soon as the field technicians complete their assessment. We deeply appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation during this time,” the utility said.
