Obituary of George Robert Laurence Renaud

George Robert Laurence Renaud

November 2, 1945 – October 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of George Robert Laurence Renaud, on October 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after several years of living with dementia.

George was born in Kimberley, BC, on November 2, 1945. He was a hard-working man all his life, beginning at a young age at Red’s Esso, followed by Fabro’s Sawmill, before finding his career at Cominco, where he worked for 30 years.

In 1968, George married the love of his life, Mary, and together they raised their three children in Meadowbrook for 45 years.

George loved fishing and could often be found at his camper tying flies and teaching his grandchildren the passion he had for it. He also had a lifelong love of music, having played in a band when he was younger. He loved the beat and was always clapping along. When a favourite song came on, he was never far from the dance floor—or the kitchen or living room—dancing with whoever would join him.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; daughter Jodi (Derrick); son Rob (Sheri); four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eva; sister Marjorie; youngest son, Craig; brothers-in-law Mike, Gary, Bob and Jack; and nephews Troy and Stephane.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Tetrault and the staff at Kimberley Special Care Home for the kindness and care they gave George during his time there.

George will be remembered for his hard-working nature, his sense of humour, his love of music and fishing, and most of all, the love he had for his family.

A Celebration of Love will take place at a later date.
