CELA now available at Cranbrook Public Library
There is a new and exciting addition to the accessible collection at Cranbrook Public Library.
The Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) provides a collection of books, magazines and newspapers in multiple accessible formats, including audio, e-text and braille, for people living in Canada who have a print disability or a barrier to reading.
A print disability is a learning, physical or visual disability that prevents a person from reading conventional print. A barrier to reading could include any condition that could make it difficult for someone to read a physical print book. This can be due to vision loss, a learning disability, or a physical disability that prevents someone from holding or turning the pages of a book.
With CELA you can download items onto your computer, tablets, cell phone, e readers and more. The Cranbrook Public Library also has Envoy Connect Reader or a DAISY Readers available to be borrowed. We also have a huge selection for kids!
If you or anyone you know experiences barriers to reading due to a print disability, there is help available.
Signing up for a CELA account means you can access a collection of over 1.5 million titles in multiple accessible formats like audiobooks, braille books sent to your home and magazines.
To register for a CELA account, all you need is a Cranbrook Public Library card.
