Swim Club gets Gaming Grant

The Cranbrook Amateur Swim Association will benefit from a $14,700 Community Gaming Grant from the Ministry of Community, Sport, and Cultural Development, presented today (August 2). This will support their swim club program.

“The swim club plays an important role in our community and in the lives of its competitors and their families. It is a group of dedicated individuals engaged in healthy, active living,” said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett. “I thank the tireless work of the staff and volunteers who do so much for our community.”

Community Gaming Grants allow non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues.

Last fiscal year, in 2012/13, our government distributed a total of $135 million in gaming grants for eligible community programs and services.

Approximately 5,300 community groups benefited from funding during 2012/13.
