Obituary:
Kathleen Ellen Eldridge (nee McKenney) passed away peacefully at Norwood Hospice in Edmonton, AB on Saturday, October 5, 2013.
The eldest of six children, Kathleen was born in Quebec City, Quebec to proud parents William and Eliza (Ina) McKenney. Raised in the eastern townships of Quebec, Kathleen moved to Ontario where she graduated with honors from Mohawk College as a Social Worker. Shortly after moving to BC, Kathleen gave up her career in social work to become a homemaker and raise six children: Spencer, Stephen, and Morrell Eldridge and Larry, Lynn and Loretta McKenney . She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. In later years her many accomplishments included owning a new and used store, a successful advertising company and an antique store. Kathleen had an unwavering faith in God and believed “Death is a sleep waiting for Jesus to come.” She is finally at rest. Mom will be missed but never forgotten.
Kathleen is survived by her children with their families, and four brothers: Leonard, Lynn, Norris and Wallace McKenney and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Elizabeth McKenney.
