10 deer traps stolen
On Sunday, Feb. 9 the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources reported that 10 deer traps had been stolen from their Cranbrook compound on Industrial Road G.
The deer traps had been transported from Elkford to Cranbrook on February 4 and a check on Feb 9 found all 10 traps missing.
The chain link fence surrounding the compound had been cut. Police located six traps burnt in the bush nearby. One trap was found intact three are still missing. The total value of the traps is approximately $17,000. Those found responsible could face charges of Theft over $5,000 and Willful Damage.
The initial theft took place between the evening of Feb. 5 and Feb 7. Between Sunday, February 10 and this morning the remaining traps were stolen out of the compound.
