Miner killed in incident at Coal Mountain
Teck this afternoon released a report about a fatality early this morning at the Coal Mountain Operations.
A serious incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. March 16 at Coal Mountain Operations that resulted in the death of a 59-year-old Coal Mountain employee.
No other employees were injured. Appropriate authorities, including the Ministry of Energy and Mines, have been notified and an investigation is now underway into the incident.
The employee, from Crowsnest Pass, Alta. has not been identified.
“We wish to extend our sincere condolences to the employee’s family, friends and colleagues,” Teck expressed in a press release.
Coal Mountain Operations is located 30 kilometres southeast of Sparwood in southeastern British Columbia.
