Shortbread Showdown winners named
Sunday, December 18, was the Shortbread Showdown at The Arts Station, a fundraiser for the Salvation Army Food Bank. It was a great turnout with 14 entries in total and altogether $218 was raised for the food bank.
The winners of the showdown were determined by ‘votes’ (i.e. donations) that were collected in the corresponding voting jars for each cookie.
The top three winners:
1st Place- Margaret Burrard with ‘Grandma’s Recipe’
2nd Place- Rebecca Hall with ‘Brown Sugar Fingers’
3rd Place- Claire Gadd with ‘Black n’ Whites’
A special mention goes out to Leah Heavey, the youngest baker of the day, who at age 10 made three entries raising $40.30; the most money out of everyone!
