Days for Girls asks for all hands on deck

Days for Girls Elk Valley is hosting a sewing event to make washable hygiene kits. This is a wonderful opportunity to use your sewing expertise to make a huge impact in the world, and we’re calling for all hands on deck!

This service and sewing event will be held at The Christ Church, 561 4th Avenue, Fernie on Monday, August 11. The event will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.

Days for Girls International provides washable feminine kits for girls and women around the globe that would otherwise go without as an effort to help girls stay in school, provide them with dignity and empower them to be all that they can be.

Attendees will be encouraged to participate in making feminine hygiene kits for women and young girls in struggling communities worldwide.

Days for Girls Elk Valley will provide experts n sewing, some sewing machines, fabric and supplies to make kits during the event. Participants may bring their own sewing machines and supplies. Donations of cotton fabric for shields and bag making (pre-washed if possible), flannel for liners, panties (girls sizes 12, 14, and 16), washcloths, travel-sized soap and Ziploc brand gallon (large)-sized freezer bags are all welcome.

There are many jobs to be done, even if you don’t sew, don’t be shy, we’d love to meet you! Make sure to bring your friends! Stop by for a cuppa and learn a bit more about what we do!

Days for Girls has reached women in 57 countries on six continents and has helped organizations in the creation of approximately 60,000 feminine hygiene kits. We invite all community members, whether they sew or not to join us in this exciting venture, empowering girls and women worldwide.
