Mark Creek flume focus of public meeting

The City of Kimberley is hosting a public meeting surrounding the Mark Creek flume redevelopment Wednesday (March 7) at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Hall.

“All interested residents are invited to meet with city council and staff concerning redevelopment of the Mark Creek flume.  The purpose of the meeting will be to report on progress to date, and to provide the public with information on the project,” stated city chief administrative officer Al Mulholland.

The flume was initially constructed to contain Mark Creek to prevent flooding of adjacent lands.

The inlet to the flume is about five miles west of Deer Park Ave. and the outlet is near the south and east ends of Jennings Avenue and Leadenhall Street. The flume runs for about 340 metres, with a 14 metre elevation change from top to bottom.
