Sculptures in Wood by Nick George

Nick George was born and raised in Fernie, choosing his hometown to raise his three children with his wife, Sylvia.

After retirement from the mine, Nick started puttering with wood in the basement of his 5th Avenue home. When he and Sylvia later moved to his childhood home on 3rd Avenue he set up a shop in the backyard shed. His first creations were a logging truck and toys for his grandchildren and his friends’ children. He then progressed to building more and more complex machines. This pastime keeps Nick sane in the winter months.

You’ll enjoy the range of Nick’s work, from detailed working models of machines and vehicles to skilfully executed static reproductions. Also on display will be a beautiful wooden sculpture of a deer.

Please join Nick at his opening reception on Thursday, February 26 at 7 p.m. for refreshments.

The exhibit continues until Monday, March 23.
