Obituary:

With great sadness we announce the death of Gene Thomas Taylor, our brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Gene died quietly at home on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the age of 66 years. He was born in Fernie on July 10, 1948 to parents Alec and Irene Taylor.

With a larger than life, colorful personality, Gene made friends wherever his travels took him, leaving an impression on everyone he met. A great storyteller with an infectious laugh and a friendly smile, Gene was always the life of the party!
Gene loved life and was especially passionate about hockey; playing for the Fernie Rangers when he was drafted to Penticton. In later years, while in Spokane, WA, Gene enjoyed playing with the Old Timer’s hockey team. Summer months found Gene on the golf course perfecting his game. He was also famous for his spaghetti dinners, a family favorite! Gene always gave 100% of himself when it was something he enjoyed.
Gene shared many lifelong friendships and he will be very sadly missed by all who loved him.
Gene is survived by his daughters: Celina Taylor and Stacia (Doug) Kapelke; 3 grandsons: Breslin (6), Saylor (3) and Lochlan (1); his sister Lois (David) Westerby; nieces Jennifer Westerby with her son Jeffrey (3), and Erin (Jason) Press with their children Ethan (10), Taylor (8), and David (5). He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Maureen Ingram.
