Each year the Early Years Fair is hosted by the Cranbrook Early Years Committee at a different elementary school in Cranbrook.

This year the Fair is being hosted at Steeples Elementary School (700 24 Ave. N, (250-426-3352) on April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. It takes place the same day as their Ready, Set, Learn event, which is a registration and orientation day for children starting Kindergarten in September.

Entrance to the Fair is free and will be worthwhile and enjoyable for all families and caregivers with children under the age of six.

There will be numerous service and resource providers available to talk directly about what they can offer your preschool aged children. From fun activities to consultations regarding your children’s unique needs, the diversity of services and specialized knowledge available in Cranbrook is often surprising to families. It’s useful to have so many of them in one room to discover how your family can benefit.

Some of the organizations that will be there include: Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy StrongStart and Young Parent Education Programs, Paq’Mi’Nuq’Yuk Aboriginal Early Years Services, Community Action Program for Children, Pivot Point Developmental Disabilities Growth Centre, East Kootenay Childcare Resource and Referral and Cranbrook Public Library, among many others.

While adults have the time to speak directly with representatives from different organizations in Cranbrook, your child will have fun with crafts, music, story time and a play area. There will be door prizes, fun activities and goody bags for the kids to take home.

Every year the Cranbrook Early Years Committee hosts the Fair in partnership with School District No. 5 and is grateful for the support of Columbia Basin Trust and the City of Cranbrook that helps make it possible to offer this event to the community.

The Cranbrook Early Years Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cranbrook Family Connections (209A 16th Ave N, beside Memorial Arena). New members are always welcome, whether individual family or organization representative. Childcare is provided.
