Students investigate journey taken by Cranbrook waste
Mrs. Potter’s Grade Six class at Kootenay Orchards Elementary School followed the journey taken by waste after it’s thrown away, as part of Wildsight’s Beyond Recycling program.
The students had an amazing time being led on tours of the Cranbrook processing plant, transfer station, bottle depot, materials plant and landfill by Loree Duczek, communications director with the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK).
Beyond Reycling is made possible by the support of the Regional District of Central Kootenay, Columbia Basin Trust, Fortis BC, National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and through the generous support of teachers, administrators and parents from schools throughout the region.
