Rockies Film Series returns Oct. 1 with AMY
The first film of the season for Rotary Club of Cranbrook Sunrise Rockies Film Series is Oct. 1.
Welcome back to another exciting season for our monthly film series!
We are pleased to announce our first film of the new series will be AMY, a documentary based on the short life of Amy Winehouse.
If you have heard the music of Amy Winehouse, you won’t soon forget it. Rotten Tomatoes states: “despite just two albums to her name, Amy Winehouse is one of the biggest music icons in British history. With a voice oft described as a combination of Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan, Amy Winehouse was a pop star with soul; a once in two generational musical talent whose appeal crossed cultural and demographic boundaries. But while her music made her a star, her chaotic personal life stole headlines.”
AMY is directed by Asif Kapadia, who also directed Senna, and if you have had a chance to see that film you will appreciate the talent!
Tickets go on sale today, Wednesday, September 9 at Lotus Books at a cost of $10. Don’t miss out!
AMY runs October 1at 7 p.m. at Cranbrook’s Columbia Theatre.
