Nitros roll onto conference final
Defending Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) champions Kimberley Dynamiters are rolling onto the Kootenay Conference finals thanks to division finals sweep of the Creston Valley Thunder Cats.
The Nitros won game four in overtime, 4-3, at the Johnny Bucyk Arena.
The conference final will be a match-up with perennial powerhouse Beaver Valley Nitehawks. The Hawks stamped their pass to the next round by dispatching the Grand Forks Border Bruins in five games.
Game one of the series begins tomorrow, March 15, at Kimberley’s Civic Centre, with game time at 7 p.m. Game two is Wednesday, March 16 in Kimberley. Games three and four are March 18 and 19 in Beaver Valley. Game five, if necessary, is back in Kimberley on Monday, March 21.
In Okanagan/Shuswap Conference action, the Summerland Steam, fresh off a six game series win over the favourite Osoysoos Coyotes, are taking on the 100 Mile House Wranglers.
The KIJHL championship series is slated to begin March 25.
