Distraught person taken into custody

On March 28, around 9 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP received a call of a suicidal 21-year-old person.

The RCMP was advised that the person was in possession of knives and was threatening to harm themselves and police if they attended. Police officers arrived at the residence and spent a considerable amount of time speaking with the person. They were eventually taken into custody without incident and brought to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Although the person had been in possession of several knives when she/he was apprehended, no one was injured. RCMP did not divulge the sex or identity of the person because of the personal nature of the incident.
