Obituary of Ian MOREY

Ian MOREY

February 17, 1969 ~ January 2, 2026 (age 56)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ian Morey, on January 2, 2026. Born in 1969, Ian crafted a life filled with intensity, passion, and—above all—love.

Ian, aka Big Red, was a force to be reckoned with; a spirited soul whose fierce determination, loyalty, and strength were cornerstones of his character. He had a love for bear hugs and a natural instinct for helping others, traits that endeared him to many. Generous with his affection, Ian was always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand, though he did not suffer fools lightly.

Ian is survived by his cherished wife, Suzanne Georgiou-Morey; his beloved stepsons, Michael, and Marcus Georgiou; his parents, Sharon and Steven Budd Morey and his brother, Phil Morey.

A devoted lover of music and film. Ian took great joy in the cinematic experience of The Fifth Element and The Lord of The Rings, reciting scripts from these and many other verbatim.

His culinary tastes were simple and comforting—steak, sushi, and ice-cream floats—with a soft spot for Kool-Aid and Coca Cola. He found happiness in building puzzles, hand-crafting wooden models, cooking, baking for all sundry, building computer systems, and gaming pursuits that reflected his curious and eclectic nature.

Ian always dressed in black, held a deep love for travel, especially destinations by the ocean. He was passionately committed to causes close to his heart, including children’s sports, animal rescue, and local community development.

Ian lived by example, firmly believing that family consisted of those who showed loyalty and respect, regardless of blood ties. His mantra was to respect oneself and those around you. Among his greatest accomplishments, he counted his marriage and the positive contributions he made to his community. He believed that giving of oneself did not diminish a person but rather empowered those around them.

His legacy is one of trust, loyalty, and community above all else.

Ian “Big Red” Morey—a beacon of strength and compassion—will be deeply and sorely missed.
