Obituary of Kevin Scott Cunningham
Kevin Scott Cunningham
Kevin Scott Cunningham passed away on April 25, 2026 at the age of 61, after struggling with Cancer for many months.
Kevin was a familiar face to many, spending over twenty years delivering packages through his work with the Townsman Newspaper, Black Press Media, and finally Amazon. He was a steady presence in the community, never taking a day off unless absolutely necessary, and building lasting relationships with his colleagues and the people on his route. He knew the backroads better than most, and he knew the dogs even better.
He was a devoted father to his children, Rainah and Jaydon Cunningham, who meant everything to him. Time spent together, whether it was talking, laughing, or just being in the same room, was what Kevin valued most.
Kevin was a caretaker, a loyal and devoted man. He spent years living with and taking care of his parents as they grew old, then years providing for his children. He never considered leaving Cranbrook, for it was important he always was able to provide a safe space for his children if they ever needed him again. He recently celebrated 30 years sober, a powerful act of self improvement made for the benefit of his family. When Kevin made a decision, he did not waver.
He was also loyal to his teams, cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and the Vancouver Canucks. Like any true fan, he stuck with them through all the bad years, which there were many.
He was predeceased by his parents Gerry and Della Cunningham, as well as siblings and friends. While that list grew over the years, Kevin never stopped appreciating the people he had around him.
In recent months as his health declined, he was able to see how much he meant to those around him. Many old friends, family, and people on his route took time to visit, call, and stay connected with Kevin during the last year of his life. Those moments meant more to him than words can fully capture.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on August 8, 2026 in Cranbrook, at Rainah and Jaydon’s grandmother’s home. Further details will be shared closer to the date.
Kevin will be remembered for his quiet kindness, his dedication to his work, his love for his children, his dry sense of humor, and the simple joy he found in everyday connections.
