Edith Irene Kinley

1916 – 2017

Edith Irene Kinley passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the age of 101 at Ivy House in Invermere, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Neilson Burt Kinley and her sister Shirley Fletcher of Arizona. Edith is survived by her sister Gloria Medley of Florida, her three daughters Karin Kinley, Robin Worgan and Claudia Sutton (Chris). All grandchildren called her Buddy and she is also survived by them – Amber Sen (Arin), Clay Spence, Lia Robinson (Lee), Gwyn Robinson (Patrick), Daina Browning (Johnny), Jenna Sutton (Will); and her great-grandchildren Lucas, Khylen, Hunter, Oscar, Anisha and Ashton.

Edith was born in Hamilton, Ontario on February 24, 1916. She married Neil in 1940. They went dancing on their first date, and it was something they loved to do during their 55 years of marriage. After he returned from the Second World War, they raised their family in Burlington, and later settled in Sun City, Arizona. They traveled frequently, visiting approximately 30 countries both for leisure, and as part of Neil’s volunteer work with International Executive Service Corps. After Neil’s death in 1995, Edith settled in Invermere, BC.

Edith was classy, with a twinkle in her eye. Her family was very important to her; she was thoughtful, generous and strove to be fair. Edith enjoyed the theatre and outings with friends; she could be found at any party dancing and laughing. She was well known for baking delicious pies. Edith was independent and always stylish in black and white.

The service for Edith will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Christ Church Trinity located at 110 – 7th Avenue in Invermere, BC.
