Obituary for Archie Loutitt

Archie Loutitt

Archie Loutitt, artist, musician, photographer, comedian and adventurer passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the F. W. Memorial Green Home in Cranbrook, BC. He was 81.

Archie is survived by his brother-in-law Bob Woodward (Doloris), nephews Rob (Denita), Derrick and Mark Woodward, niece Dawn Woodward-Fedyk (Trevor), grand-nieces Karys and Rhian Woodward, many other relatives and numerous great friends.

Archie spent most of his life in Yellowknife where he was a pioneer in the early Yellowknife music scene of the 1950s and 60s. He also learned photography from renowned Yellowknife photographer Henry Bussey, which would develop into a lifelong pursuit and passion well into his senior years. His charm, charisma and generosity of spirit earned him legions of friends wherever he travelled, particularly in Negril, Jamaica where he made almost 35 visits.

Archie will most certainly be remembered for his wild sense of humour, crazy antics, love of good times and his creative spirit. He was predeceased by sisters Linda (1988) and Doloris (2005) his mother Beatrice (2002) and long-time partner Ann Snider (2004).

A celebration of Archie’s life and times will take place in Yellowknife at a yet to be determined date.
