It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Arthur Adolf Alfred Wittenborn. After a long struggle with various health problems he passed away peacefully on April 15, 2018. Arthur was born May 11, 1933 in Brandenburg Havel, Germany. After the war he studied and became a “meister” wheelwright, which later allowed him to pursue a career as a carpenter and cabinet maker. In 1954 he escaped East Germany to West Germany where he met Josephine and they were married in December of 1954. January 7, 1957 they immigrated to Canada. Within 3 years they were able to establish their lives, finding jobs, learning English and started a family. Their son Arthur was born in 1960, followed by Monika in 1962 and Linda in 1964. Arthur relocated his family to the Invermere/Kimberly area in the early ‘60’s where he spent his time running his own carpentry business, raising his family and continued to pursue his lifelong motorcycling passion. His passion saw him make several trips to Mexico. On one of these trips he met his future wife Ana. In 1982 Ana immigrated to Canada where they were married. In 1982 Elli was born. They moved to the K-2 ranch in 1988 where he remained very happily until he was forced leave due to medical issues in 2017. Since then, he lived with his daughter Elli and her family. He brought them laugher and sunshine every day. Arthur will always be remembered for his endless stories of adventure, his passion for motorcycles, ability to always see the positive and how he could fill the room with only a smile.

Arthur is predeceased by his parents, his son and his loving wife Ana. He leaves behind 2 siblings in Germany and his brother Otto of Invermere, their spouses and 4 nieces and nephews. He adored his companion, Karolina Schager, who treated him like gold. He came to love her family (2 sons, their wives and 4 grandchildren) as his own. He leaves behind his three daughters Monika (Scott) Rota, Linda Birnie, Elli (Tony) Bukovnik, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The friends, acquaintances and memories he leaves behind are endless.

A Goodbye celebration will be held for Arthur, Saturday, April 28th at 2:00 pm. It will be held at the K-2 ranch which Arthur loved and the only place he called home. In lieu of flowers the family encourages you to make a donation to any charity in the medical field.
